It will be in Norma Elrod's garden 2012 Old Dollarton Road North Vancouver. Easily accessible by bus and parking available on the street nearby or in the shopping plaza across the street.

John Slattery hosted two dialogues on Membership last week. catherine participated in the discussion on Tuesday and we covered a lot of ground about what membership means to us and what it might look like in the context of UUSS. We even explored the idea of whether we need to differentiate members from non-members. It was a meaningful and heartfelt conversation.

    Highlights of the CUC AGM

Approximately 126 people – 72  delegates and several observers – attended the Canadian Unitarian Council’s (CUC’s) Annual General Meeting (AGM), held online Saturday, May 25, 2024. A few small changes were made to the process of the AGM, including allowing non-voting observers to speak; offering different gradients of agreement beyond a simple yes/no vote; and conducting periodic “temperature checks” to decide when to extend discussion on an item. More info here.

Here are the electronic notes and the flip chart images from our most recent Community Dialogue on Money and Resources.

The discussion was very thoughtful and we arrived at the following overarching question:

What do our bylaws, policies, procedures, budget processes and practices need to be to support a culture that explicitly values offers of support to the community and requests for support from the community equally and values all members of our community just as we are."
If you would like to offer your creativity and energy to this project, please contact catherine at catherinemarystrickland@gmail.comso we can launch the proposal group soon and potentially bring a proposal to the whole community at our June 8th meeting. This is a big project, so it is likely that our bylaws, policies, etc will evolve over several months.

We acknowledge that we live on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem First Nation), which lies within the shared territories of the Tsleil-Waututh, Katzie, Musqueam, Qayqayt, Squamish, and Sto’:lo Nations. We thank the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm who continue
to live on these lands and care for them, along with the waters and all that is above and below
