NEXT WEEKEND
Saturday Service"Embracing Change & Transformation
October 18th at 5:00pm
St. Margaret's Cedar Cottage

As we embark on this transformative third year of our community, we will be embracing change as we co-create what we want this community to be. Please join your Worship Circle as we explore where we have been and where we are going. Based on the work of Rev. Shige Sakurai, we will use the elemental symbolism of spirit, water, fire, earth, and air to represent the dimensions of transformative work. As always, we will have a potluck afterwards and helping hands are welcome with the cleanup.

Saturday, October 18 at noon
Jack Poole Plaza,
1055 Canada Place

Some of us UU Salish Sea folks will be attending the No Kings protest Oct 18th, noon-2:00 before our service at 5:00 at St. Margaret's Cedar Cottage. Come join us! Wear your t-shirt if you have one and we'll try to find one another. Easy public transport after the event to the service.https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/event/841100/

Here in Canada, we stand in solidarity with our American neighbours against their wannabe dictator.

This peaceful movement is growing. That’s because “NO TYRANTS” is more than a slogan—it’s foundational to democracy. Born in the streets, carried by millions in chants and on posters, No Tyrants echoes from corridors of power to classrooms, from urban centres to small neighbourhoods, uniting people across North America to oppose authoritarianism, and to stand for democracy with one voice.

The US president thinks he’s above the law. In Canada we won’t back down against chaos, corruption, and cruelty. Grow our movement and join us. Elbows up. Sign up

And join us right after the service for our Town Hall! And Share your thoughts on our Name, Purpose and Bylaws for Registration as a Charity.  There will be treats!!

SATURDAY,  October 18
from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm
at St. Margaret's Cedar Cottage

Our team has been working hard getting us ready to register as a charity in Canada! They put together the attached document with the details of our application for the Canada Revenue Agency. Please share your thoughts, questions and concerns at our Town Hall directly after our next worship service. If you can't attend in person, there will be an option to zoom in. You can also share your thoughts with catherine via email at cstrickland@shaw.ca

You can view the document in our google drive using this link or in the attached word document.

We hope to see you on the 18th!

SOCIAL JUSTICE

Seeking a volunteer
The Social and Environmental Justice Circle is seeking a UUSS member willing to help us organize a Christmas Hamper collection for the North Shore Christmas Bureauthis year.  It is always fun and rewarding.  We are proposing sponsoring a small family, perhaps a single mother with 1 or 2 children.  You will be assisted by our Circle members.  If you are interested, please contact Robyn Newton at your earliest convenience so we can get the ball rolling.

We acknowledge that we live on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem First Nation), which lies within the shared territories of the Tsleil-Waututh, Katzie, Musqueam, Qayqayt, Squamish, and Sto’:lo Nations. We thank the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm who continue to live on these lands and care for them, along with the waters and all that is above and below
