In the spring we agreed that we would try out Sociocracy as the governance model for UUs of the Salish Sea. Sociocracy is a governance model that supports greater engagement, a flatter hierarchy, inclusive decision making, accountability and intentional feedback. Sociocracy prioritizes relationships and processes that build connection and community. It minimizes the power and influence that one individual or a small group of individuals can have over a community.
For Sociocracy to be effective, many of the people in the community need to have at least a basic understanding of how it works. We hope you will attend this training with Leonie Smith, founder of The Thoughtful Workplace and co-founder of Necessary Trouble Collective. Leonie is a certified Sociocracy Trainer through Sociocracy for All. She is currently supporting three organizations to implement Sociocracy.
