Community Dialogue on Membership

Please Note - Tuesday & Wednesday sessions will cover the same topics

Come and join us for our first conversation about how we define membership in UUSS. This Dialogue will hopefully give us clarity before we create a “membership book” for UUSS.  The complete process will take two, possibly three sessions.  This first session will focus on the following:

Principles and Questions

• What general principles should guide us regarding membership?
• What is the purpose of membership? 
• How do we differentiate between members and non-members?  
• How does someone become a member?
• What process do we want to create to grant membership?  
• How is membership acknowledged and communicated to the whole community?

The next step will involve the creation of specific bylaws, policies, and procedures based on the results of the Session 1 conversations.  These will be created by a smaller group of interested folks and then brought back to the whole community to choose between alternatives and/or accept the proposals.

This conversation will be informed by the outcomes of several other conversations such as the ones on money and resources, our covenant, and youth & young adults ministry.
